• The DMK chief went on to say that he was not against Ram, but against those who were misusing his name for their own benefit. He said ships were forced to encircle Sri Lanka just to go from the east coast to the west of the country and thus the project had to be completed.

• Earlier, 25 resolutions were passed in the conference, one of which was the completion of the Sethu Samudram project. Another resolution passed was for the support for Tamils in Malaysia.

• Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi also addressed the conference. The Rajya Sabha MP concentrated on women's issues in a bid to woo women voters, who have in the past supported All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief J Jayalalithaa.
